Strategies for technology transfer and innovation are an integral part of most regional economic development plans.

  • HELIX helps organisations to draw on the "best practice" experience in innovation and technology transfer, and regional integration from other EU regions.
  • HELIX assists local and regional authorities through analysis of regional support structures and processes, international benchmarking, and initiatives designed to encourage SME participation in international projects and networks for R&TD, training and technology transfer.
  • HELIX has worked on Research Park projects throughout the UK, in Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Sweden. These have included both non-specific Technology Parks (Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Netherlands, UK) and sectorally-oriented Technology Parks (Telecommunications, Kista, Sweden). This list is not fully comprehensive.
  • Senior consultants in HELIX have extensive experience of working on ERDF with institutions (UK and other member states) on the development of their strategies for the use of European funds for research and for advanced training.
  • HELIX has participated as  international experts in four Regional Innovation and Technology Strategies (RITTS). This is the maximum number in which the EU allows a consultancy to be active at any one time. The RITTS were carried out successfully in the regions around Oslo, Uppsala, Linkoping and Copenhagen. In each of these regions HELIX' consultants have benchmarked the R&D capacity and the supply side support services in the context of the respective regional economies.
  • The HELIX consultancy team is a European leader in the development of transnational research projects, having worked in recent years for clients in 15 European states (including Norway and Switzerland, but excluding Luxembourg and Greece in the EU) on research projects involving industry and research institutes - developing and benchmarking their knowledge and skills.
  • HELIX has developed the concept of 'knowledge bridges', which link people wanting to access, develop and use knowledge in sectoral and regional development terms. 'Knowledge bridges' also enable them to network and benchmark at international level using a wide variety of tools and processes for both specific and general applications.
  • Ongoing support can be provided to new technology transfer units and access to specialist advice provided by a range of external experts.
